Kelly Mine is situated near the village of Lustleigh, on the eastern edge of Dartmoor. To reach the mine take the A382 north from Bovey Tracey. Parking will be available in one of the Lustleigh Show fields.
Directions: Turn off the A382 towards Lustleigh, the car park is 300 yards along the Lustleigh road on the left hand side. Park at the far end of the field and follow the signs to the mine ( one high stile and stream to cross). Total distance is about 200 yards, any less able bodied passengers should be dropped off on the main road outside the mine.
Kelly is a unique example of an early 20th century mine with many original features and machinery, including Californian Stamps, water turbine, winching system, waterwheel and ore drying furnace. Reconstructed items include ore washing strips, Blackstone stationary engine, tram wagons, inclined tramway and hand jigger. All the machinery will be run during the day ( safety and water supply permitting), and the ore processing system will be demonstrated
