The Wellcome Trust Centre for the History of Medicine at University College
London and the Association of British Neurologists are seeking a suitably
qualified graduate interested in undertaking research for a PhD on the
subject of "The History of Neurology and the Role of the Association of
British Neurologists in the Twentieth Century". The position will be funded
for three years by the Centre and the Association jointly at c.16,000 UK
p.a. and the aim is both the completion of the doctorate and the subsequent

of neurology as a discipline; a detailed knowledge of the British context is
at this stage not required. The research will be supervised by a historian
and a neurologist. Applications should be sent by 31 October 2002 to Dr.
