Our School of Cultural and Innovation Studies is one of the most successful
and fastest-growing in the UK. Having achieved Grade 5 at the last two RAEs
with around 70 full-time academics and researchers and with over 1200 student
FTEs, studying for the full range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees,
we are now looking to appoint ten additional posts. From our new campus in
Docklands - the most rapidly expanding metropolitan area in Europe - we're
searching for highly qualified candidates to join our dynamic team.
PRINCIPAL LECTURER/LECTURER IN MEDIA PRODUCTION - 2 POSTS (REF: 28A2002)
We are looking for two academics/practitioners with wide-ranging experience
of media production in one or more of the following areas: multimedia and
website development, television, film or radio production, photographic and
printed media. To succeed you'll need a successful record of teaching at all
levels of academic study, combined with a critical approach to production
practices. For applicants to the PL position, a strong research and
publication record, and academic management experience are essential.
LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN FILM STUDIES (REF: 29A2002)
As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Film Studies, you will contribute to our
newly established
interdisciplinary degree in Cinematics, and to further developments at
postgraduate level. Experience of teaching Film and Media Studies at both
graduate and undergraduate level, combined with a substantial research and
publication portfolio is essential. Experience and publications in the areas
of World Cinema and Film and Media Theory will be an advantage, as well as
knowledge and interest in theory/practice integration.
LECTURER IN MEDIA AND ADVERTISING (REF: 30A2002)
An academic/practitioner, with some direct experience in the advertising or
adjunct industries, you will teach and contribute to the development of Media
Studies programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. As part of
our team providing an interdisciplinary programme in Media and Advertising,
you'll combine critical approaches with practical teaching. To succeed
you'll need to be experienced in teaching and research in one or more of the
following: advertising industry processes and procedures, consumer
psychology, sociology of consumption political economy and media theory.
LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN JOURNALISM AND PRINT MEDIA (REF: 31A2002)
Your brief will be to teach on an interdisciplinary undergraduate programme
that combines critical thinking with professional practice. Applicants
should be able to offer a range of theoretical and professional approaches
including sociology, political economy, cultural theory and the public
sphere; professional practice includes radio, video and multimedia
production, sub-editing and page design and news and feature writing.
LECTURER IN MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS TEMPORARY ONE YEAR POST
(REF: 32A2002)
Teaching and carrying out research in Media and Communication Studies you
will specialise
ideally in one or more of the following areas: race and ethnicity, popular
music, cinema, audiences, institutions, Arab media, global perspectives on
media and communications.
