This research was sort of commissioned by the Scotsman who asked us to do a
survey for their article a few weeks ago. There is no published research as
such, just a graph that the Scotsman published and a couple of spin off
articles in The Daily Record and the Independent. London Weekend Television
are doing a programme on this year's number one hits that will be screened
at Christmas so that may be of interest in this area.

Subject: Re: manufactured pop acts
It may be incidental to your concerns, but the 'Independent on Sunday'
recently
published an article about a study of the extent to which manufactured
bands
dominated the charts and how this had hanged over time. The article can
be
found at:

Does anyone know whether the research referred to has been published?
