Postmodernism and Spirituality

The conference will be organised around three key areas with a final plenary session, which will discuss the question: 'Is this the end of postmodernism?'

Area One: Spirituality and Knowledge
Topics might include: Science/ Epistemology, prosthesis, machines, physics as religion, cyber robotics, knowledge, mathematics.

Area Two: Spirituality and History
Topics might include: teleology, narratives of redemption, apocalypse, the millennium, prophets and prophecy, reincarnation.

Area Three: Spirituality and Being
Topics might include:  the mind/body split, altered states, the sublime, incarnation, transcendence/ immanence/ the unrepresentable, addiction, epiphany, angels.

There will be an exhibition of the work of artist Susie Hamilton.

Conference Fees
The cost of the full conference only includes refreshments and lunch @ £95 +vat = £111.63.  The cost of the conference daily rate includes refreshments and lunch @ £50 +vat = £58.75
The cost of the optional three-course conference dinner is £20.00.

Payment Terms 
On completion of the booking form, Payment may be made by cheque, credit card or direct credit transfer.  Receipts will be issued within twenty eight days after the conference.  Under exceptional circumstances, payment may also be made at the conference.  

Substitution and Cancellation
If delegates are unable to attend, they may make a substitution at any time.  If it is not possible to notify the substitution prior to the conference, this should be done immediately on arrival at the conference.  If necessary, the booking may be cancelled up to fourteen days before the conference, in writing.  Refunds will be subject to an administration fee of £20 plus VAT.  After this date, regrettably, we cannot make refunds on cancellations.  We strongly recommend that overseas delegates take out appropriate travel insurance.

Special Diets
All catering is organised with options to fulfil the requirements of vegetarians.  However, we can accommodate most dietary requirements if these are indicated to us on booking.  

Special Needs
The University of Central Lancashire particularly welcomes delegates with special needs.  All buildings have wheelchair access and various other special facilities.  We are happy to clarify these prior to booking.

Quality Assured
At the end of the conference, you will be asked to complete an evaluation form.  To ensure we maintain a high quality of service, we welcome your comments and suggestions and would ask that you take the time to complete these details and return them to us.

The information you provide on the booking form will be held on a database to process the confirmation of your place and so that we can keep you up to date with other relevant products and services provided by the University of Central Lancashire.
