WORKING WITH DIGITAL IMAGES - 5 February 2003, London

If you regularly work with digital images but sometimes find image files unwieldy to use, this workshop is for you. The day is designed to equip you with the key skills, knowledge and hands-on experience that you need in order to work efficiently and creatively with both still and animated computer image files.

BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE:
* understanding of valuable technical background information
* knowledge of the different types of electronic images and their characteristics, and which types of images are most suitable for use in different contexts
* practical experience of working with still and animated images
* knowledge of how to cut down on valuable time and money spent downloading image files while online

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
* people who find themselves working with digital images but have no background in this area
* people who are beginning to use digital cameras and scanners, but are finding it difficult to control the resulting image files

WORKSHOP LEADERS
Nick Lewis and Andy Ewers, RAE Associates
Andy and Nick both worked in the Information Systems industry for many years, working for research departments and information services in both the private and public sectors. They then managed a specialist software company together until Andy created RAE Associates, a consultancy and training consortium in online computing. Since then they have delivered numerous internet-related training events for The Library Association and CILIP.

SPECIAL NOTES: Attendees are invited to bring a few sample image files on a floppy disk (virus-checked, please) for use in the hands-on sessions. These should be images - photos or graphics - related to your organisation or of special interest to you.

PLACES ARE LIMITED TO: 18 (This allows for a maximum of two people sharing each PC)

FEEDBACK FROM PREVIOUS PARTICIPANTS

"A lot of information presented at a level I could understand, that with the handouts I will be able to practice at work."
