We want you to tell you about a brand new Web-based research and writing
tool, designed by the makers of EndNote, ProCite and Reference Manager,
specifically with the needs of undergraduates in mind. That tool,
WriteNote, is a specialist academic product.
This email introduces WriteNote and, if you are interested, gives you the
means to take an active role in deciding where we organise the preview
events in the New Year to help you find out more. In the meantime, if you
can't wait until the New Year, you could attend the WriteNote Master Class
at Online Information 2002 in London next week. Please scroll down to read
more on...
1. What is WriteNote?
2. Your chance to preview WriteNote - choose from 7 broad locations
3. Check out WriteNote at Online Information 2002 and attend the Master
Class
1. WHAT IS WRITENOTE?
This new Web-based tool enables:
STUDENTS to build the skills they need to write research papers. WriteNote
guides students in collecting and citing references from electronic and
print sources, while reinforcing the principles of citation attribution and
thereby discouraging plagiarism. All the while, WriteNote points students
to their library resources, provides helpful tips and tools to highlight,
mark and annotate Web pages, and adds references into their personal
reference collection. As students' bibliographic program needs become more
advanced, their references can be transferred easily to the desktop tools
EndNote, ProCite and Reference Manager.
LIBRARIANS to help students focus on the quality of content available from
their institution's subscription resources and other approved Web sites.
PROFESSORS & INSTRUCTORS to recommend a tool that accommodates their
discipline and course-specific requirements, and deepens their students
understanding of scholarship.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY STAFF to save time and effort with a tool that is
easy to install and maintain and readily available 24/7 for local and
remote access, including distance learning.
ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS with significant investments in library information
to further leverage course-ware technologies and writing laboratories and
expand their reach beyond the library walls.
WriteNote will be available on an annual subscription basis either as a
standalone site licence OR as an extension to your existing ISI
ResearchSoft bibliographic site licence.
2. YOUR CHANCE TO PREVIEW WRITENOTE AT A CHOICE OF 7 COUNTRYWIDE LOCATIONS
Because WriteNote is a specialist academic product - which will be licensed
to an institution as an annual subscription - it is, by it's very nature,
regarded as an investment for the future. So we are looking to organise
online seminars and roadshows in the new year to provide an interactive
means of previewing and evaluating this new web-based solution. Currently
we have no definite dates for the roadshows, but we do have an idea of
potential locations. We would like to gauge your interest in WriteNote and
your preferences in proposed roadshow locations. You have a choice of:
Birmingham
Bristol
Dublin
Edinburgh
London
Manchester
York
PLEASE CONTACT US:
Please reply to this email, registering your interest in WriteNote and
indicating which roadshow location would be most convenient for you.
Alternatively, if you believe this information would be of interest to
other colleagues within your organisation, please forward this email to
them. If you require further information, please email me on

3. SEE WRITENOTE AT ONLINE INFORMATION 2002 AND ATTEND THE MASTERCLASS
We'll also be showcasing WriteNote next week at Online Information 2002 -
the world's no.1 event for all professionals who use, manage or source
information via the web or electronically. It is taking place from the 3rd
to the 5th December this year at the Grand Hall Olympia, London and we will
be there on the Thomson ISI stand, number 220 on the ground floor. Thomson
ISI is the parent company of ISI ResearchSoft: the software developer for
our popular bibliographic tools: EndNote, Reference Manager and ProCite.
There will be an Adept representative available for the duration of the
exhibition, ready to answer your questions, give demonstrations and
generally advise on the usage and benefits of our range of reference
management software - now including WriteNote.
PLEASE CONTACT US:
CHEST members are also invited to attend the Master Class sponsored by ISI
ResearchSoft featuring WriteNote at the exhibition on Wednesday 4th
December from 1.45-3.00p.m. in Henley Suite 1 (Gallery Level). If you are
coming along to Online Information and would like a ticket to enable you to
attend this class, please call me on 01462 489142 or reply to this email.
