Subject line says it all, I'm afraid. We had a power cut on Wednesday
night, and when the rest of the servers dragged themselves back into life,
the ageing machine that runs our library management system said to itself
"Stuff this for a game of soldiers" and unilaterally extended its Christmas
holidays. The old disc subsystem is in bits on the kitchen floor next to
the engine of the Librarian's Velocette and the replacement disc subsystem
is in bits in the bouch of a motorbike courier somewhere between Dartford
and BMA House.
We hope to get it up and running shortly because the excuses we are
offering over the phone are becoming increasingly colourful and
implausible. Meanwhile, our apologies for any inconvenience.
Tony McSean
