This practical workshop is designed for users of small to medium sized
automated systems who have to generate their own name and subject authority
structures to provide more effective document retrieval.
BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE:
* practically examined the importance of authority control
* used the convention of thesaurus production
* been introduced to the Authority format of MARC21
* considered appropriate authority structures for their information
environment
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This introductory workshop is for those who wish to to enhance the quality
of the information they provide via the catalogue, and those who would like
to have the necessary knowledge, skills and tools to ensure that their
collection does not descend into chaos.
