Dear All
Many thanks to all who replied to emails about ACS archives from
myself and my colleague Marion Tattersall
Of the 11 replies, 5 institutions have signed up for a subscription to
the archive, one through a consortium. Concern was expressed
about the loss of content if they didn't sign up.
Of the 5 who said "no", the main objection was the expense.of
paying for the same content twice. Those with small chemistry
departments found the price too high. Some were hoping for better
terms from a NESLI deal.
We understand there may have been around 30 sites for the 2002
NESLI deal with a minimum going e only, additional
replies/comments from other current subscribers are still welcome.
Concern has also been expressed in the department here about
downloading time and the standard of the graphics. Has anyone
who has purchased the archive any comments in this respect?
