"ROMANIZATION"?
A one day conference for post-graduates to be held at the
Institute of Classical Studies
Saturday 2nd November, 2002
FINAL CALL FOR PAPERS
Post-graduates are invited to submit proposals for papers (20 min)
on any aspect of the issues surrounding "Romanization".
There are no geographical restrictions, but
papers must confine themselves to the pre-Augustan period.
Sessions will be chaired by post-graduates,
Ray Laurence, Kathryn Lomas, and Nicholas Purcell will act as discussants.
The day concludes with a paper, open to all,
by Richard Hingley (Durham).
Papers will be published, essentially as delivered,
in a special supplement of the on-line journal Digressus.

Room 331 - paper open to all
5.45 pm Wine reception, ICS Common Room
Session paper topics include the Romanization of Volaterrae, civic identity
in Hellenistic / Republican Aphrodisias, Romanization in Republican N.
Africa, military presence and Romanization in Republican Sicily.
All participants are invited to join us for dinner at a local restaurant
afterwards.
