Charles, and other Int-Boundaries readers:
The Canada - United States boundary in Passamaquoddy Bay (between New
Brunswick and Maine) is delimited by about 18 sets of beacon ranges. These
ranges are shown on Canadian Hydrographic Service chart 4114. Just how
visible the ranges are for the mariner, I am not sure.
The Canada - United States boundary in Boundary Bay (south of Vancouver, BC)
is marked by lighted ranges on both the eastern and western shores. The
lights (by night) and the daymarks (during the day) are visible over the
whole width of the bay. These are shown on CHS chart 3463.
The Canada - United States boundary in Strait of Georgia (south of
Vancouver) marking the continuation of the "49th parallel)" is marked by a
red-white-green sector range light on Point Roberts. This range is also
shown on CHS chart 3463.
A portion of the Canada - United States boundary in Lake Erie is marked by
floating buoys painted Yellow. Some are lighted; some are not. The buoys
are shown on CHS chart 2123.

Dear Members,
Has anyone ever heard of a territorial sea or other maritime boundary being
physically demarcated, whether by buoys, poles or otherwise?
Thanks,
