Dear All
Many thanks to those of you who attended the Seattle Club research
conference meeting this week for Uk and Irish ID/DD researchers. It
seems to have been a positive experience for most and it will
continue into the future. Running this informally-organised event
twice now has been a useful lesson, and those involved in its future
will certainly be trying hard to improve things as far as is possible.
In terms of future distribution of information about the conference,
this will be done using the ID-Research-UK mailing list only. Many of
you are not on this list at present (although around 80 of you are),
but if you are using email you can be. I have not added anyone unless
they have requested it, so just because I've annoyed you with lots of
emails about this year's conference doesn't mean you will continue to
receive updates. The easiest way to join is to go to the following
web page and "Join the list".
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/ID-RESEARCH-UK.html
If you don't get on with this method, you are welcome to email me
directly and I can add your details manually.
Using this list means that all organisers have easy and direct access
to people who may have an interest in attending the conference in the
future. It is the simplest way of maintaining an up-to-date method of
communication. It can also be used as a way of distributing
information about other research-focused issues (e.g., requests for
information, conference information, job information, funding
information) by any member of the list. The only restriction for the
list is that members must be actively engaged in and/or committed to
behavioural or social sciences research in intellectual and
developmental disabilities. If I don't already know the names of
potential members, I always check that they are happy to sign up to
this focus. So, please don't be offended if I ask. It helps to avoid
any advertising of products and services and maintain the list focus.
PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS EMAIL TO COLLEAGUES, STUDENTS ETC AND
ENCOURAGE THEM TO JOIN THE MAIL LIST.
Merry Christmas.
Richard
