Hi Tomas,
For Li in mantle minerals see:
Seitz H-M & Woodland AB (2000) The distribution of lithium in peridotitic
and pyroxenitic mantle lithologies - an indicator of magmatic and
metasomatic processes. Chem. Geol. 166:47-64
(You might already know it).
For crystal chemistry of Li see:
Wenger M & Armbruster T (1991) Crystal chemistry of lithium; oxygen
coordination and bonding. Eur J Min 3:387-399
Hawthorne FC (1995) Light lithophile elements in metamorphic rock-forming
minerals. Eur J Min 7:607-622
To my opinion it should be no problem to charge balance a trace element
concentrated at a level of less than 5 ppm, like Li in olivine.
hope this helps
horst
