Deadline for proposals: April 1, 2002
Notification of acceptance: April 15, 2002
Proposal Guidelines:
Proposals should be 500-800 words in length and must include paper title,
presenter's name, institutional affiliation, postal and email addresses,
and panel preference. Explain how the paper contributes to the theme of
the panel and to research on women in Buddhism. If selected, the paper
should be suitable for delivery in a 15-minute presentation (maximum 10
pages, double-spaced) and submitted by June 1, 2002, to allow time for
translation. Papers accepted for possible future publication will be
maximum 20 pages, double-spaced. Interpretation from English or Mandarin
Chinese will be provided at the event. Please indicate whether you plan to
present in English or Mandarin. If you wish to present in another
language, please so state.
Conference Location:
The opening ceremony and first plenary will be held at National Taiwan
University, Taipei. Subsequent events will be held at Huafan University,
founded by Ven. Bhikshuni Shi Hiu Wan in 1990 and located on a quiet
campus 45 minutes outside of Taipei.
Conference Fees:
Registration is US$60. US$30/day provides for vegetarian meals and double
room accommodations at Huafan University. Transportation to and from
Chiang Kai Shek Airport will be arranged.
