1 Addressees are requested to post this notice of vacancy in appropriate
areas immediately upon receipt so that applications may be submitted for the
following:
POSITION: TRAINER, REACH OUT PROJECT
LOCATION: Secretariat, Geneva
2 POSITION SUMMARY: Provide training and evaluation skills to the Reach Out
project team. The overall goal of the Reach Out project is to enhance
refugee protection awareness, knowledge and skills of humanitarians, in
particular staff within the Red Cross/Crescent Movement and NGOs who work
with refugees, and to improve understanding and operational co-operation
between the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement, NGOs and UNHCR, thereby seeking
to improve physical, material and legal protection for refugees.
Responsibilities: To prepare, conduct and evaluate multi-lingual (English,
French, Spanish and Russian, Arabic or Mandarin Chinese) refugee protection
training workshops for humanitarian practitioners in field locations
throughout the world. To develop, maintain and disseminate a catalogue of
refugee pro-tection activities aimed at compiling operational lessons learnt
as well as good protection practices and progress indicators derived from
the various training workshop processes. To draft discussion papers,
workshop and project reports, publications and various training materials
relating to human rights, in-ternational humanitarian and refugee issues, as
well as the practical implementation of humanitarian relief programmes for
refugees and other related protection matters. To perform other work-related
du-ties and responsibilities as may reasonably be assigned by the Project
Manager.
3 QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE: University degree in any of the
refugee-pertinent human sci-ences, such as international relations,
political science, law, sociology, anthropology or psychology. One or
several degree(s) in specific fields of education such as adult learning
processes, evaluation methods and techniques, multidisciplinary refugee
women and children studies would be an asset. At least four years of
refugee-pertinent related work experience including field experience and a
minimum of two years in an adult training capacity. Work experience
involving refugee protection responsibili-ties at field level in several
different working contexts, and in particular a track-record of work on
is-sues relating to child/adolescent, women, disabled, elderly and other
vulnerable refugee groups is deemed a significant asset. Excellent
communication skills - oral and written. Outstanding analytical and
reporting skills. Highly efficient in preparing and making structured and
organised presentations at often short notice. Perfectly fluent in English,
French and Spanish. Proficiency of one or more other international
languages, especially Russian, and/or Arabic or Mandarin Chinese is deemed
an impor-tant asset. Excellent computer skills. Well-developed sense of
responsibility, distinguished interper-sonal and crosscultural skills. A
team-oriented and stress-resistant personality. A flexible, mobile,
re-sult-oriented and a pragmatic yet diplomatic problem solver.
