Dear all,
participants in the FISH list may be interested in the following
conference and workshop.
1. The Digital Resources in the Humanities conference (DRH) 2002 is
imminent. The call for papers has closed, but there should be many
things to tempt amuse and entertain (oh and inform too!) The conference
is at Edinburgh University Library 8th - 11th September. For more
details have a look at: http://www.drh.org.uk/
2. UKOLN have been organising a series of workshops on collections
description. The next one is on 14 May. The day will offer an overview
of collection description practice and strategy, this will include
details of the planned collection description service that the JISC plan
to take forward as a key part to the evolving Information Environment
and
some practical examples of implementations of collection description as
well as looking to wider issues such as: Reveal: Uncovering collections
for the visually impaired community and OCLC's iCAS service as a tool
for Collection Managers. The programme offers opportunity for discussion
and the day should help develop thinking and understanding surrounding
the important issue of collection description within the digital
environment.
