                      ECONOMETRIC STUDY GROUP

                 CONFERENCE - BRISTOL - 18-20 JULY 2002

A preliminary programme and the application form are now available from
http://les.man.ac.uk/sapcourses/esgc/esgc.html

The Econometric Study Group annual conference will again be held this
year
at Burwalls Centre for Continuing Education, University of Bristol.
Burwalls is situated in a very attractive location by Clifton suspension
bridge, and has provided a very agreeable venue for this conference in
previous years. The dates for this year's conference are Thursday 18
July to Saturday 20 July. The conference will run from Thursday
afternoon through to Saturday lunchtime, with a conference dinner on
Friday evening. The conference is sponsored by the Centre for Microdata
Methods and Practice (cemmap) and the Econometrics Journal.

The invited speakers for this year's conference are:

Gerard van den Berg (Free University Amsterdam)
"Treatment Effects on Duration Variables"

Jerry Hausman (MIT)
"Estimation with Weak Instruments: Theory and Practice"

Yuichi Kitamura (Pennsylvania)
"Econometric Comparison of Conditional Models"

The conference fee for full residents will be 170 pounds, which covers
accommodation, all meals (including the conference dinner) and copies of
the conference papers. The conference fee for non-residents will be 80
pounds, which covers dinner on Thursday and lunch on Friday
(but not the conference dinner), and copies of the conference papers.
The fee for non-residents wishing to attend the conference dinner on
Friday evening will be 110 pounds.

It is expected that the registration period will be from about 1.30pm
onwards on Thursday 18 July.

Places at the conference are limited. To reserve your place please
return the application form from the web site together with your
conference
fee. Payment may be made by cheques in sterling payable to the Institute
for Fiscal Studies, or by credit cards.
