Economics LTSN is in the process of building a question bank that will
provide a useful and time-saving resource for lecturers in UK HE
Economics. The questions will be available on-line for you to select and
customise tests/assignments/exams for your students.
The questions will be categorised by level (1, 2/3, M), by subject (e.g.
labour economics, environmental economics, monetary economics) and by
question type. We have identified six types of question: essays,
data-response (including tables, spreadsheets, graphs and charts,
articles, quotes, etc. with questions), problems, multiple choice,
multiple response (e.g. which ones of 6 alternatives are correct),
matching and ordering (e.g. matching 6 statements to 6 categories).
As an incentive for colleagues to submit questions, the question bank
will be the one part of our site that is password protected. To obtain a
password, colleagues must submit 12 questions (where data-response and
problems each count as 2).
Questions should be submitted in electronic format, preferably as a
plain text or Microsoft Word file, via the form at the foot of this
Web page:
http://www.economics.ltsn.ac.uk/qnbank.htm
We can also accept exported questions from some course management
software such as BlackBoard. Although electronic submission is
preferable to us, we are also prepared to accept questions in hard copy
through the post.
If you want to turn a set of questions into an online, interactive
test for your site, we may be able to help, although a lot depends on
the structure and notational complexity of the questions. If you are
interested in this possibility, submit your questions through the above
form and then email Martin Poulter ([log in to unmask]) for
further details.
Please would you forward this e-mail to all your colleagues teaching
Economics.
