Sounds to me (as an external) as if it would.
Some immediate thoughts.
What would the student be told would happen with the data when they entered
the course of study/exam?
Do not most courses of that nature identify the confidentiality of the
material obtained or used during the course?
Is any disclaimer as to the contents representing the personally held views
of the data subject contained on the exam script/essay?
Would that suffice?
If an educational establishment cannot protect the learning process of a
data subject, could any trust exist between the establishment and the data
subject?
What damage to the learning relationship would be caused?

Subject: Examp scripts, Personal & senstive data ?
Hi,
I have one of those what ifs.
What if an exam script (or essay) is in a field of study like Politics,
Economics
or in an ...ology where the student in effect expresses "political,
religious
sexual orientation" views which are then backed (or not) by the discussion.
Can an essay be taken to be sensitive personal data, in as much as someone
is
prepared to argue a particular line of thought (whether they trully believe
it or
not is another matter).
Friday and demob happy I guess.
Regards
Charles
