http://www.scms.rgu.ac.uk/eccbr2002/

ECCBR 2002 is the 6th European Conference on Case-Based Reasoning.
This four-day conference will be held at The Robert Gordon University
in Scotland's granite city, Aberdeen. The program will start with the
ECCBR Industry Day and workshops, followed by the three day conference
of invited talks, presentations and posters on both theoretical and
applied research in CBR. Announcements concerning these events will
be posted at the website.

Submission Topics:

The ECCBR'02 Program Committee invites submissions of original
research and application papers on all aspects of Case-Based
Reasoning. Example submission areas include, but are not limited
    to:

  * CBR system design issues (e.g.,indexing, retrieval, similarity
    assessment, and adaptation)
  * Case and knowledge representation, acquisition, modeling,
visualisation, maintenance, and management for CBR
  * System architectures and integration of CBR with other methods
  * Collaborative CBR
  * Learning and knowledge acquisition for CBR knowledge containers
  * Analogical reasoning, and creative reasoning approaches based on CBR
  * CBR-related areas (e.g., corporate memories, decision support,
information retrieval, knowledge discovery, data mining, software
    reuse and engineering redesign)
  * Lazy learning, instance-based learning, and case-based learning
  * Applications of CBR (e.g., customisation and personalisation,
education, e-commerce, pattern recognition, image processing,
knowledge
management, manufacturing, medicine, web technologies, planning and
    scheduling)
  * Formal, empirical, and psychological evaluations of CBR models
  * Methodologies for developing CBR applications

Papers may be accepted for presentation as talks, as part of a
    panel, or as posters.

Proceedings:

All accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings
published by Springer Verlag in the Lecture Notes in Artificial
    Intelligence series (http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/index.html).

Review Criteria:

Submissions must be identified as either *research* or
*application* papers and will be reviewed using criteria
appropriate to their category. Review criteria for research papers
will include scientific significance, originality, technical
quality, and clarity. Review criteria for application papers will
include practical or economic significance, potential to lead to
more powerful technology, technical quality, and clarity.

Important Dates:

    Submission Deadline: 22nd March 2002
Notification of acceptance: 13th May 2002
Camera ready copy due: 3rd June 2002

Submission Procedure:

Authors must submit a full paper plus a title page by the end of
22nd March 2001. The title page must include: name(s) of the
author(s); name, address, phone and fax number, and email of the
contact person; title and abstract of the paper; a set of
keywords; a statement whether the submission is to be reviewed as
a "research" paper or an "application" paper.

Full papers and title pages may be submitted in either of two ways:

    1. Electronically, as a Postscript or PDF file submitted by FTP
       via the ECCBR'02 website

Note: Since Springer's LNCS/LNAI series is now published in parallel
in both paper and electronic formats all papers submitted to
ECCBR'02 must be submitted in electronic format.

Submission Format:

Papers MUST be submitted in Springer LNCS format, which is the
format required for the final camera ready copy, with a maximum of
15 pages. Authors' instructions along with LaTeX and Word macro
files are available on the web at
    http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html.

All authors of accepted papers must transfer their copyrights to
    Springer.

Multiple Submission Policy:

Papers submitted to other conferences or journals must state this
fact on the title page. If a paper will appear in another
conference or journal, it must be withdrawn from ECCBR'02 before
