Apologies: in my last email I said that the closing date was 30th October for
the two main posts mentioned in the email, below. As stated later in the
email, the closing date is, in fact, 30th SEPTEMBER.

Subject: Jobs in workplace basic skills

Apologies for cross posting: here is news of two jobs in the Workplace Basic
Skills Network, which have been advertised this week in the Times Educational
Supplement and the Guardian. (and some other news from the Network). Closing
date for both posts 30th October. Please note that one is a 4 month temporary
maternity cover, based at Lancaster University. The other post is based in
Reading or Guildford at SEEDA offices and is until March 2004. Secondments
are welcome for both posts; we could conceivably interview overseas candidates
by video link for the temporary post. Please circulate to anyone you think
might be interested.
best wishes
Fiona Frank

## Part time consultants/part time associate Network staff

In addition to the above posts, we would also like to hear from you if you are
interested in becoming involved, as a part-time employee, a self-employed
consultant or as a secondee from your
current organisation.

At the moment we are especially looking for: additional staff in the North
West, in particular to help deliver a project in Greater Merseyside, in
Yorkshire and in London.

# North West
The initial focus of this work will be in Greater Merseyside but there will
also be opportunities to become involved in other parts of the region too. The
Network has an existing capacity building project with Greater Merseyside LSC
which will include a range of activities between now and March 2004. We are
looking for additional staff to lead the planning and organisation of provider
seminars on workplace basic skills with the support of the regional events team
and to negotiate and take forward a new initiative for a learner forum on
workplace basic skills. This will include residential events for learners and
the collection and editing of student writing about their experiences. Part of
the role will also include working with the National Development Manager in
liaising with the LSC staff team with interests in this project.

# Yorkshire
In the first instance the priority in this region will be to continue work with
existing partners in South Yorkshire to plan and implement activities which
follow on from a Regional Development Agency project which finished in April
this year, including support with funding proposals. The second stage of the
work will be to work with the National Development Manager to expand our
strategy and activities into other areas in Yorkshire.

# London
The Network has managed a complex project in London with 24 partners over the
last twelve months and has plans in place for a final provider seminar on
October 30th. A continuation project is currently being shaped by the Regional
Development Agency with a number of potential partners and further detail about
this is expected to be available by the end of October. The Network is looking
for part-time staff to work with the National Development Manager on new
opportunities linked to last year's project.

If you are interested in any of these opportunities we would like to hear from
you, ideally by email response including your CV. Please contact
