Karl Carlile is not the first to complain about the quality of the
"traditional" English translation of Capital.
However, it is hopeless to plead for MIA to put up the Fowkes translation.
Since the copyright owners are so clearly able to make money from it they
are not likely to give it away.
Other translations, of course, are out of copyright.
Incidentally, those list members who could use a searchable version of
Capital (and some other Marx-Engels literature) but would like to avoid
internet phone call and/or connection fees are reminded of the excellent
Electric Books CD-ROM edition.
Orders made using the form published in the latest edition of Capital &
Class can get it for £5.00 off the list price.
Electric Books offer a wide range of material in CD-ROM form, including
classic novels. But the other offerings of theirs which may particularly
appeal to capital-and-class list members are their CD of "Essential classics
in science" -- which includes Parson Malthus's essay on population -- and
CDs of Gramsci and Chomsky -- and you can order on-line too, at
http://www.elecbook.com/
