Dear WinBUGS folks,
Gosh! I didn't expect such interest...
To answer a few questions:
1. My setup (I have a Linux cluster and a PC cluster) is based on MPICH,
Python, and the Pypar module. This setup works on Windows (2000/NT/XP, but
not 95/98/Me) and Linux, and should also work with Mac OSX (but I don't
have a Mac cluster to try this out).
2. The only issue is getting WinBUGS 1.4 (not 1.3, not BUGS) to run (see my
posting regarding Wine on Linux...). Obviously not a problem on Windows, on
which parallel Python programs can be compiled into executables, placed
into a shared directory and run _very_ easily.
For those of you keen enough (and have two or more machines in the
network), you'll need
1. An MPI setup (I use MPICH - free, works on Linux and Windows)
http://www-unix.mcs.anl.gov/mpi/mpich/
You'll need to set an environment variable MPICH_DIR to the MPICH directory
for step (3) in Windows
2. Python and the Numeric extension
http://www.python.org
http://www.pfdubois.com/numpy
3. Pypar
http://datamining.anu.edu.au/~ole/pypar/
I'll post some scripts as soon as I get time (I'm in frantic grant-writing
mode at the moment).
Have fun!
Simon
