The National ICT Research Centre based in Shropshire is engaged on a
project to improve informal learning in rural areas using ICT particularly
the Internet.
We're extremely keen to get a detailed picture of different rural
environments. How do some rural areas differ from others?
We're interested in hearing of any experiences of using Blackboard in
rural areas. Does anyone have any experience anywhere of using Blackboard
in a rural area, one characterised by sparsity of population and resources
and low bandwidth? What about experience in developing countries?
How well did it work? What happened? Were there problems due to low
bandwidth? Were there other problems related to access, infrastructure or
support?
Any accounts or pointers would be extremely useful.
Thanks,
John Traxler
