Paul - I'm in the final stages of developing our plans for the end of year turnover - but am starting from the premise that we need to keep this year's version of Blackboard for at least a couple of years (although we haven't decided whether to keep it on or off-line). We also need to keep the current students connected to their courses until the end of the resit period at the same time as preparing for next year so have decided to buy another server, dump a copy of Blackboard onto it at the end of July and prepare the new copy for next year (sounds so simple when you miss out all the detail!).
My plan has just been out to all our academic and admin staff for consultation and I'm updating it in the light of their comments but will be publishing it on the 20th June - it'll be on our Blackboard site (http://bb.ncl.ac.uk/) and you are welcome to take a look.
