NEWS RELEASE
TWO NEW MEMBERS OF STAFF AT MuSE!
The Museum Service East of England (MuSE) welcomed two new members of
staff during September. Their jobs are to work closely with the other
MuSE officers to help museums, libraries and archives in the region in
providing the best possible service to their users.
Gordon Chancellor is the Regional Archive Development Officer for the
East of England. Gordon will be working with archivists and user groups
from around the region to raise awareness of the vital role played by
archives, and to assist archive bodies where-ever possible. Gordon says
"fewer people use archives than use museums or libraries, but the
numbers are increasing daily, and their role in lifelong learning and in
providing a sense of identity is enormous."
Hazel Courtley is Learning and Access Development Officer. Her role is
to promote the learning power of museums, libraries and archives across
the region and to help them make their services as accessible as
possible. Hazel joins MuSE from English Heritage where she was regional
Education Officer for the East of England. Prior to this she worked for
St Edmundsbury Museums Service and taught for eleven years in Suffolk
schools.
Hazel and Gordon can be contacted at MuSE, 5 Honey Hill, Bury St
Edmunds, Suffolk IP33 1RT, tel 01284 723317 or email [log in to unmask]
