2003 Campion Fellowship
Fellowship in Official Statistics
Applications are invited for the second award of the Royal Statistical Society's Campion Fellowship. This is a re-advertisement as a result of no award being made in 2002.
The deadline for applications is 24 February 2003.
The Fellowship remembers Sir Harry Campion who was a distinguished academic statistician before becoming the first Director of the Central Statistical Office during the Second World War. His distinction in the statistical profession was recognized by his periods in office as President of the RSS from 1957 to 1959 and President of the International Statistical Institute between 1963 and 1967.
The Campion Fellowship is awarded to RSS Fellows to promote a specific piece of work or project that would make a significant contribution to the development, use or exposition of statistics on the economic or social well being of the population.
The work might relate to the collection, processing, analysis, presentation or distribution of statistical data by central or local government or other bodies in the UK or amongst a group of countries including the UK. Fellowships may be concerned with the development or evaluation of methodology, policy issues or with the lessons of history. It should contribute to strengthening cooperation between Fellows working in different sectors - public, private and academic. Applications are welcomed from statisticians working in all sectors.
The Fellowship is being awarded every two years with the maximum sum of money available on any occasion being £10,000.
