Here's an interesting initiative from Paul Meara, who
presented this idea at the seminar on Teaching/Testing
Linguistics, held at CILT in May last year.

Dear Colleagues,
I have recieved a small grant from the Languages, Linguistics and Area
Studies Subject Centre in Southampton to set up a bank of multiple choice
questions suitable for first year linguistics students. We have in mind
students who are doing introductory courses in linguistics for beginners,
probably as part of a degree in languages or English, rather than a
specialist linguistics degree.
If you already use multiple choice questions in your courses, and would like
to contribute to this project, please contact us.
We would also like to hear from you if you don't already use multiple choice
tests, but would be interested to experiment with them in this context.
Let us know you are interested in this project by replying to this email,
and putting the words: multiple choice tests in the title line.
Thanks
Paul Meara
