Chester College runs a standard two week examination period at the
end of each semester with 3 examination sessions per day. We have
had to do this for a number of years due to the number of examinations
on our modular scheme.
The standard pattern over the two week period tends to be 9:30 - 12:30,
13:30/14:00 - 15:00 and 16:00 - 17:30/18:00. Obviously we have to factor
setting up time and extra time provision for students with specific needs.
Three hour exams are usually put at the beginning of the day for ease of
timetabling.
The exam hall holds around 360 candidates with the majority of specific
needs students examined in separate rooms, this can produce a heavy
demand upon staff for invigilation and room resourcing (up to 5
additional rooms in one session).
We ensure that no candidate has more than 2 examinations in any one
day
