I'd be interested too. I pulled this Bill off the Web and while it seemed
admirable in its intentions, I think it's a private member's bill and I
wonder whether it stands any chance of becoming law.
We have a policy which includes bullying, to be found at
http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/personnel/policy/bullying.html. This was
developed in 1997.
We are currently looking at setting up a network of volunteer harassment
advisers (inspired especially by the work Syd Kent has done at Essex) and in
this context will probably look again at the policy. At present I think the
issue is not so much the policy itself but issues around presentation and
dissemination. Recasting it in terms of dignity at work is one of the ideas
we have. There's also the question of giving people the confidence to invoke
it, and improving the training of managers to implement it.
However we are at a rather early stage; and look forward to contributions to
the discussion.

Subject: Harassment Policies and Dignity at Work Bill
Dear Colleagues,
have any of you begun to look at this Bill and its relationship with the
Employment Bill changes and future Revised Equal Treatment Directive? We
need to revise our Harassment Policy soon and want to anticipate future
requirements, but on first glance they don't relate. Any thoughts?
thanks in advance - I expect most of you are on holiday!
Judith.
