Openings for Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer or Professor
The Swedish School of LIS in Goteborg-Boras is expanding its Master's
and Ph.D. programmes and is seeking applicants for tenure-track
positions to be announced in the spring 2002. The School has the major
LIS-programme in Sweden, concentrating on a 2-4-year Master's
programme and a Ph.D. programme with more than 25 Ph.D. students. The
total number of full-time student places is 600. This includes a
2-year programme for distance learning and a yearly admission of 200
full-time students for studies on site.
We have four main areas for research and teaching in which the new
positions will be placed:
(1) Library, culture and society, (2) Knowledge organisation including
information seeking and retrieval, (3) Interaction between the user
and information services and (4) Information Management and
Information Resources Management.
Teaching and research competence can be related to Information Policy,
Library Management, Information Behaviour, Organisational theory,
Information Management and Value-adding of information products and
services. With consideration to the interdisciplinary nature of the
field, Ph.D. qualifications will be considered from LIS as well as
from neighbouring disciplines. We would expect that a suitable
research background with an interest in information studies could be
found in Business Administration, Communication Studies, Computer
Science or other social and behavioural sciences as well as in
humanistic disciplines.
The School is presently engaged in launching a new research programme,
which together with an expanding teaching field offers great
opportunities for professional development and individual job design.
