Details are as follows:
We record with sadness the death of Ted Parsons last weekend at
the age of 89. His career in the Bodleian was remarkable both for
its length - from 1927 to 1980 - and for its range: he came
straight from school as a 'Bodley boy' and rose via the Map Room
to be Secretary of the Library. In 1978 the Curators, in
recognition of his great skills as both librarian and
administrator, and of his unique contribution to the development
of the Bodleian, awarded him the personal title of Deputy
Librarian. All those who worked with him benefited from his vast
experience and the quickness of his mind, and will recall his
great personal kindness, and the youthfulness which he never
seemed to lose...
... The funeral will take place at the Oxford Crematorium on
Friday 23 November at 1.30pm.
