italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Although it's a bit dated, my students have enjoyed Luigi Barzini's The
Italians, since the writing is lively and many of the perceptions still
valid. The best one-volume history of Italy I know is Giuliano Procacci's
History of the Italian People (Penguin paperback)
