We record all consultations on the Exegesis system for the reasons you give
. For statistical purposes it is easy to filter out planning applications
from other consultations.

> Can I ask how, or if, people record SMR search requests? This query is in
> reference to pre-development enquiries, rather than general SMR queries.
>
> The reason for asking is that pre-application enquiries may turn into
> planning applications or Grant scheme applications, and it is useful to
> know that a previous enquiry had been dealt with for the site, and also to
> be able to find out what was said. The person responding to an SMR search
> request may be different to the person dealing with an application, and
> though we do talk to each other, the time lag may be quite long between an
> enquiry and an application, and problems could arise as a result.
>
> Does anyone using Exegesis use the consultations module for this sort of
> thing, or only for recording more formal consultations IE when they have
> got to an application stage?
>
> Answers or thoughts appreciated.
