3. REVIEW OF LANGUAGE LEARNING SOFTWARE
Would any colleagues be interested in taking a look at any of the
following language learning software and writing a short review?
You can have the software on loan for up to 3 months, and the
review will appear in the Subject Centre newsletter, on our website
and, space permitting, in the academic, peer-reviewed journal
ReCALL (published by CUP). Your views as practitioners are most
helpful to the rest of the academic community and to software
developers alike.

4. FAQs ON SUBJECT CENTRE WEBSITE
A section featuring frequently asked questions has now be set up
on the Subject Centre website under Resources at:

5. NWCL RESEARCH TRAINING
Following our successful ESRC funded research training events, the
North West Centre for Linguistics is establishing a Research
Training Centre in language and linguistics. The Centre, which is
funded for three years by the HEFCE Collaboration Programme in
Modern Languages, will provide research training courses in a
variety of topics in theoretical and applied linguistics and in
research methodology.
The first event will take place from 18 March to 22 March 2002, and
will include the annual NWCL lecture with guest speaker Fritz
Newmeyer (University of Washington). The training event will be
followed by the annual Manchester PG conference.
