A date has been set for next Metadata SIG meeting, which is the 30
November. The meeting will be held here at LTSN Engineering, Loughborough
University, starting at 10am-10.30am. Places are limited to 20, but all are
welcome to attend on a first come first served basis.
The main item for the agenda will be the structure and content of the guide
to metadata (Otherwise known as the "idiot's guide"). After discussions on
the list last month, it seems that there is a lot of material to be
explained. A draft of a basic "What is metadata?" document is being
prepared, and will be circulated for discussion.
A document describing organisations involved in metadata standards and
specifications is attached to this e-mail, which can be incorporated into
Scott Wilson of CETIS has been developing a template for us all to enter
material on how individual IMS metadata elements might be used in the UK.
The draft of this web based guide will be presented at the meeting,
followed by discussion of what should be described for each element, and
how this might be done.
