Call for Participation: "Critical geographical praxis: different challenges
in different contexts"
Third International Conference of Critical Geography
Békéscsaba, Hungary, 25th - 30th June 2002
The Third International Conference of Critical Geography will be held in
Békéscsaba, Hungary, from 25th to 30th June 2002. The aim of the
conference is to stimulate debate among critical geographers from around
the world and to promote the development of critical geography.
The conference will be organised around eight guiding themes. Themes will
be 'supervised' by coordinators, who will be responsible for organising the
sessions that fall under it.
This is a call for participation in conference theme 1: Critical
geographical praxis: different challenges in different contexts.
This theme will build on the discussions begun in Vancouver and Taegu on
the different meanings of being critical geographers across different
national and academic contexts. We are particularly interested in opening
up spaces for 'different' forms of critical geographical praxis or for
opening spaces of dialogue to contest hegemonic forms of critical
geography. In effect, we are looking at developing a 'critical geography
of critical geographic practices'.
If you are interested in participatin as a panelist, discussant, etc., or
if you have ideas for a special session, please contact one of the theme
co-ordinators:
