medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Although I still do not remember, where I have read the story, thanks to all your
suggestions! I was really astonished about the different versions I myself did not know.
Angus is right, it is a fairy tale. But the original moral is the description of true enclosure.
Therefore it would fit quit well if the story was first found in the surrounding of women
monasteries.... and it would be interesting to follow the changes of the story through the
centuries.
Thanks to all,
Katrinette
