Subject: CIC Strategic Directions 2001-2004

Greetings, CIC Colleagues:

I am delighted to announce that the CIC Members have released their
"Strategic Directions 2001-2004." The document will be mailed to many groups
and committees during the next two weeks. In addition, the document is
available on the CIC Web site at: www.cic.uiuc.edu.

The CIC Members, staff, and I look forward to working with many of you as we
develop plans and strategies for implementing the targeted programs. Of
course, we also recognize that this document will not remain static, but
will change and evolve in response to the needs of our member universities.

The next several years offer tremendous promise to us as we work to achieve
the vision of the CIC - leveraging the strengths of our individual member
universities in order to create unparalleled educational, research, and
leadership opportunities for our students, faculty, and staff.
