Two research Posts at the Open University
FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES
two fulltime Research Fellowships in Geography
Applications are invited for two 2 year temporary research posts in the
Department of Human Geography based in the Faculty of Social Sciences,
starting in January 2002.
The persons appointed will work with Professor Sarah Whatmore and Dr Steve
Hinchliffe on an ESRC sponsored project entitled Habitable cities: civic
spaces and ecological practices. We are looking for people who have a
general understanding of the demands of research project work, of social
science, particularly ethnographic, methods and who have a broad knowledge
of environmental thinking and its intersections with social theory.
The Geography Department at the Open University has an active research and
distance teaching programme and can offer the successful candidate a lively
intellectual atmosphere in which to discuss and debate ideas. It has a
strong commitment to collaborative ways of working and a research reputation
which owes much to disciplinary and interdisciplinary co-operation.
The appointment will be made on RA1A up to grade point 4, (£ 17,278 -
20,066) depending on qualifications and experience.
