Do many use this toolkit or RBCA criteria on a regular basis?
YES - it is a very widely used tool; particularly favoured by organisations with a strong US heritage/ culture.
How applicable is this to UK practice?
It is and can be used for UK sites - the key is to make sure the site conceptual model and that in RBCA are equivalent.
Where on can I find information on the algorithms and formulae used in
calculating the results?
The source ASTM report has the algorithms - as an appendix; make sure though that you get the errata sheetthat goes with the first edition. Tehre is an ASTM outlet in the UK now - you can buy the PDF of ASTM documents and they will email it to you.
Why is lead not included in the list of contaminants in the toolkit (at
least it is not in the evaluation copy I have been sent)?
US use a different model for lead - you will note taht SNIFFER has a different worksheet for lead as well,
Is it possible to change the default values to reflect UK practice more
closely?
YEs
Is the manual you get when you buy the program just a reiteration of the
help command or is it useful?
Sorry - can't recall.
