Looking at workloads and staffing etc, it seems to me that most of the
conventional descriptions of A&E departments, % trolleys etc, may currently
look very different according to local circumstances, primary care
facilities locally etc. Clearly, at the moment, we don't seem to have a
reliable case mix index to compare, but one of the things that can "clog
up" the department, is the proportion of trolley patients to other
patients, especially when there are bed waits. If anyone would care to let
me know (probably off the list) what your A&E department current total
adults and children attendances are, and current percentage of resus,
majors, minors patients are, as well as, for that adult workload the
average number of medical admissions each night, that would be great. Your
total SpR/middle grades, SHOs, consultants and any other docs (ie primary
care practitioners, ENPs etc)would also be helpful. Thanks ruth
