Actually, the use of "disabled" as to be denied the ability to do something
(I'm not phrasing that well) is fairly standard; I've encountered it in such
various places as feminist works and legal dictionaries. It's always struck
me as odd that the disability rights movement hasn't latched onto that
meaning more firmly.
