The International Teledemocracy Centre

The International Teledemocracy Centre is a highly successful and rapidly
expanding multi-disciplinary research group established by Napier University
in partnership with BT in 1999. The Centre undertakes high-profile advanced
research and development in electronic democracy. Work covers research into
information and communication technologies that can be used to enhance the

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN INTERNET TECHNOLOGIES
£19,293 p.a. (The post is fixed-term for 2 years)
You will take a leading role in developing internet-based tools, techniques
and methods to motivate and engage young people in the democratic decision
making process. These tools will be used by the Highland Council to gather
the opinion of young people and support elected Highland Youth Parliament
representatives in their decision making.
You will be comfortable working in a PC environment and have software
engineering expertise in building web-based applications and developing
internet solutions. Working in a stimulating environment, which is widely
acknowledged to be at the leading edge of e-democracy research and
development, you will be an enthusiastic individual with a good honours
degree in Computer Science or a related subject. You will be a good
communicator with the ability to work on your own initiative. Knowledge of
databases, development of multi-media systems and experience of working with
young people would be especially advantageous.
