New! From The Library Association:
Giving and receiving feedback
A one day workshop on 19 September, in London
"The most important resource of this organisation is the staff".
Though often repeated this statement historically has not led to importance
being placed on ensuring staff are able to make their vital contribution.
However changes in styles of management are occurring. Examples are the
widespread introduction of performance management, the responsibility of
managers for developing staff and lifelong learning initiatives.
The ability to give and receive feedback underpins such changes. Individuals
are assisted to learn, useful change is achieved, problems addressed, trust
built. This in turn contributes to feelings of well-being, achievement and
success in an organisation.
Benefits from attending
The aim of this workshop is to develop confidence and skills in particular
when using feedback in the context of performance appraisal, staff
development interviews, coaching and similar situations.
By the end of the day participants will have:
* considered what is meant by feedback and in which
circumstances it is used
* reviewed their attitudes to giving and receiving feedback
* explored techniques for giving and receiving feedback
effectively
* looked at how to apply these techniques in work situations
Who will benefit from attending?
Training officers, supervisors, managers or those in a position where they
need to appraise the work of others and provide feedback.
Features:
The day will be highly participative and draw upon your experience. There
will be opportunities to learn from exercises, discussion, theory input,
case studies and video working in the whole group, small groups or pairs.
