Disability Studies:
Persons with disabilities (PWDs) are among the earliest transhumans. They
are often the first to use new technological devices, implants and
software. By incorporating external and internal technological
applications into every aspect of daily life, PWDs truly explore cyborgian
existence. The Disabilities Rights movement may more properly be
thought of as the Transhuman Rights movement, as they fight for acceptance
and integration within the larger human population. In the new
field of Disabilities Studies, scholars are beginning to describe new
concepts of
body and personhood that will have great relevance for other
trans/posthumans.
