given our contribution to the consultation process for the
globalisation and development white paper, and the intention to hold a
meeting to look at what has come out
www.globalisation.gov.uk
it might be worth drawing attention to
anti capitalism.. a guide to the movement
published by
www.bookmarks.uk.com
which presents the arguments from the point of view of participants in
seattle, prague, genoa etc...
the one weakness is that it makes no use of the internet nor discusses
the role of the internet in globalisation (but neither does the white paper)
another, imho, is that it doesn't discuss the role of organisations in
civil society, or local activity.. it seems to me that information
systems practitioners have a special obligation which is why we need
to consider these things
I'll be drafting a comment on the white paper for us to discuss at a
meeting, probably in October, and would welcome contributions from
anyone else in the group. More details on the meeting after the
Medinfo, EADI and OSHCA events in September
