medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I seriously doubt

Yes, but given the traditional link (in the Christian tradition) between
holiness and chastity, how did/does perception of a "Holy man" differ from
the perception of a "Holy Woman" ? This is what I suspect the conference
will explore.
Compare the lives
> of Socrates (as we know it from Plato), Saint Thomas Aquinas, Shakespeare,
> Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi, the Old Testament Prophets, Jesus, Mohammed,
> Leonardo Da Vinci, Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, Vivaldi, Chopin, Pierre de
> Fermat, Sir Isaac Newton, Michael Faraday, Kurt Godel, Sir Roger Penrose,
> Stephen Hawking, Paul Dirac, Steven Weinberg ... Field Marshall Viscount
Montgomery,
> Field Marshall Viscount Slim, Marshall/General Zhukov,
I most certainly would not call ALL these men "Holy" by any stretch of the
imagination ! (But I will refrain from saying who I would delete from the
list !)
