Sorry for cross-posting. In collaboration with a Calgary
archaeologist, I am starting research for a major book on the art and
iconography of Armorican coinage. This will differ, radically, from
all previous attempts.
Our method will require pictures that are larger than 1:1 scale, and
many book illustrations are often unusable because of scale and the
half-tone printing process. In addition to coin photographs we would
like any images of other classes of decorated, or sculptural artifacts
(la Tene and earlier) that are provenanced to the same regions of the
coins. This, generally, will include from Eure southward to Vienne and
all lands westward. We do not require images of Coriosolite staters,
but images of the quarter staters are required.
Also, contacts are eagerly sought with those who have a friendly
relationship with any of the museums in the areas covered by this
study, or museums holding these coin types.
For the preliminary research, permissions to publish are not required.
Although we require any and all die varieties, and even duplicate dies
where remaining details vary coin to coin, we will end up using only
some of these images in the publication. Credits will be given to all,
regardless of whether the images are used.
For the published pictures, of course, full credits will be given, and
applicable fees will be paid.
Images can be emailed to me as good quality jpegs, individually, or in
a .zip file, they can be posted for download, or uploaded to an ftp
site. Hard copies can be mailed to me if preferred (contact me by

Please help us if you can. We want this to be an exhaustive study that
is visually splendid!
